Objectives
The key objective of the North West Iron Ore Alliance is to promote the development of a successful, economically viable and dynamic junior iron ore industry in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
The key initial focal points for the Alliance are to:
- Cement the commitment of the Western Australian State Government for the development of a junior iron ore industry within the Pilbara region;
- Advocate for public policy settings that:
- consider the needs of junior iron ore companies in the planned expansion of port infrastructure at Port Hedland;
- consider the needs of junior iron ore companies when determining access to rail and other transport infrastructure;
- assist Federal and State Governments to provide sustainable social and economic infrastructure for the Pilbara that will mean true regional development; and
- provide diversity to the State’s iron ore industry.
- Help find new solutions to approvals issues;
- Be employers of choice in the iron ore industry;
- Simplify and enhance the way our member companies contribute to education and employment opportunities for our workers and their families; and
- Foster partnerships and training employment opportunities with indigenous Australians.
